Geneva Pauses Housing Rehabilitation Program Applications
The City of Geneva is currently pausing new applications for its Housing Rehabilitation Program. Residents interested in the program may contact Jennifer Sutton at jsutton@cityofgenevany.gov or Thoma Development Consultants at (607) 753-1433 to be added to a waitlist.
The program offers financial assistance, in the form of a 100% deferred payment loan that is forgiven after five years as long as the property remains owner occupied. Assistance typically ranges from $20,000 to $35,000 per structure. Projects that require asbestos removal or lead-based paint abatement may be eligible for higher levels of funding.
This initiative uses New York State funding to help repair owner-occupied, single-family homes that do not meet quality standards. Eligible repairs include work on electrical systems, plumbing, heating, roofing, insulation, masonry, windows, doors, painting, and both interior and exterior carpentry.
Applicants must meet low-to-moderate income guidelines. For example, a household of one must have an income of $58,200 or less, while a household of eight must have an income below $109,700. Additional eligibility criteria also apply.
Thoma Development Consultants is responsible for administering the program. For questions or additional information, they can be reached at (607) 753-1433 during business hours from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
